Warrior And Man

Tom : G
Intro: Em G D Am Am
G
Still I hear the old song,
D Am Em
it is sung by the birds and the leaves in the trees.
G
It is sung by the wind,
D Am Am
by the thunder and rain, by the waves in the seas.
Em C D Em
It is sung by the merfolk, by gnomes and by dwarves,
Em C D Em
in the rivers and mountains so deep;
A C D Em
it is sung by the fairies that dance in the woods,
C D Em
it is sung where the unicorns sleep.
Em G
When the world was still young
D Am Em
and the weak race of man still had hearts true and proud,
Em G
Man did fight side by side
D Am Am
with the folk of the woods as an invincible crowd.
Em C D Em
As a frightening army they rode through the mist,
C D Em
with their weapon and shield by their side;
A C D Em
and the warrior´s song all the swordsmen did sing
C D Em
as the black army rode in the night.
Em G
But the race of man´s weak
D Am Em
and it started to fight only for money and fame;
Em G
While the folk of the woods
D Am Am
fought for justice and truth, not for man´s greed and shame.
Em C D Em
Thus the elves turned their back on man´s insanity
C D Em
and the old friendship came to an end;
A C D Em
and the warrior´s song was forgotten by man,
C D Em
who to gold and injustice did bend.
Em G
But I still hear the song
D Am Em
which is sung by the birds and the leaves in the trees,
G
which is sung by the merfolk,
D Em
by gnomes and by fairies in the mountains and seas.
Em C D Em
And as long as my heart beats this song will be there,
Em C D Em
for I know that the warriors still ride.
A C D Em
Yes, the race of man´s weak, but a few still remember
C D Em
the old words of honour and pride.
