My Old Drunk Friend

Tom : G
G

[Chorus]
G
My old drunk friend,
C D
it's good to see you again
C D G
Every time you walk in I should run the other way
G
My old drunk friend,
C D
you're lookin' kinda thin
C D G
I won't ask where you've been, you never want to say

[Verse 1]
C G
I'll buy you a drink when I get into town
C G
And we'll go out walking 'till our boots are run down
C G
We'll walk through this town where all the alleys are haunted
C G
Though the streets are deserted these ghosts remain undaunted
C A D
And you're laughing louder in my ear
N.C. G
with every bottle of beer

[Riff]
G C G C G C G C G C A D G

[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
C G
I should have moved to New York City, but I never was that cool
C G
I just languished in the Midwest like some old romantic fool
C G
And the streetlights shine down on the bottles we have broken
C G
'Till the road is paved with diamonds from a thousand lost love tokens
C A D
And my logic just seems more clear
N.C. G
with every bottle of beer

[Chorus]
[Outro]
G
My old drunk friend,
C D
we watch the moonlight grow dim
C D G
As the long night gives in to the dim light of day
