How to review an automatic chord sheet

A practical checklist for checking key, chords, lyrics, sections and layout before export.

Automatic analysis can save time, but a few minutes of review make the final sheet much more reliable. Check the result while listening to the recording instead of looking at chord symbols alone.

1. Confirm the key

Play the suggested tonic and listen for resolution. If the song modulates, mark the new key at the correct section instead of forcing one global label.

2. Review chord changes

Listen carefully around phrase endings, fills and bass movement. Remove labels that appeared for only a moment when there was no real harmonic change.

3. Check lyrics and alignment

Sung-word transcription can miss stretched syllables, names and backing vocals. Correct the text and place each chord over the syllable where the change is heard.

4. Organize sections

Label Intro, Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Bridge and Ending. Clear structure makes the sheet faster to scan and reduces unnecessary repetition.

5. Test before PDF

Play through the entire song using the sheet. Only then adjust font size, spacing and page breaks for printing or PDF export.

When the sheet is ready

A finished version should let another player understand the structure without your explanation. Make sure key, capo, section labels and repeats are clear and that no chord has been stranded by an awkward line break.

Keep an editable copy as well as the PDF. If you later discover a better chord or need a new key for another singer, adjusting the source is much faster than rebuilding the sheet from scratch.
